Summary: This document provides guidance on the assessment of children with intellectual disability in order to understand problems, identify co-morbidities, establish probable aetiology, and delineate important psychosocial factors. Methods of assessing functioning and disability are suggested. Intervention for disability, comorbid behavioral and psychiatric disorders, and rehabilitation measures are discussed, including those directed at patients and carers.
