At the outset I am thankful to you for getting me elected as the President of Indian Psychiatric Society. I will try my level best to keep the flag of IPS as high as possible at National as well as International Level. I believe in “HONESTY” and “TRANSPERENCY” as well as “COMMITEMENT” toward the portfolio. I will be following this thoroughly throughout my Presidentship. Whatever is known to me will also be known to all the members of the society. During formation of committees we will be having representation from each zone of IPS in every committee. This will help us to percolate the decision taken by IPS to all the state and local branches also. I also want to have unity and cooperation amongst all of us at all level. Let us all work together for the betterment of IPS without having any of our personal agenda. We should also try to increase the resources of IPS through new sources.

Public Education and awareness are very near to my heart because I believe that if the awareness about Mental Health increases then all of us will be benefited and specially the young psychiatrists. We will be coming out with one calendar of IPS this year which will help us in promoting the Mental Health awareness. I also want to have a strong Legal cell in the society so that we can help our members during the period of some Legal crisis. We will be appointing an official Lawyer of IPS also to get help in such matters.  My slogan for this year will be “SOUND BODY IN SOUND MIND ONLY”. Post Corona period has taught the society about the importance of Mental Health as it is directly connected with the immunity also. We have to propagate it further to the society so that the awareness about the psychiatric diseases increases, people start talking about it, and people start treating mental health issues at the same level as they do about physical health issues. Let us now move toward our topic of Presidential Address which is “Leadership Skills and Team Building”.

Effective leadership and team building are essential for the success of any organization. A strong leader not only motivates but also inspires team members to achieve common goals. They create an environment of trust and mutual respect, which are crucial for fostering teamwork and collaboration.
